![]() ![]() Hey you! It is totally incomprehensible that Bohemian Rhapsody is the first. The fact that it is in second place is completely irrational. This is the greatest song of all time, no questions asked. Jimmy Page is the greatest guitar player of all time, and his beautiful guitar playing only adds to the song all the way from the soft acoustic beginning, to the intense solo, to the outro which causes all the instruments to soften again. The song's true meaning is beyond that of the comprehension of the mortal mind, which is why it is never clearly stated by any of the band members. Anyone who does not at the very least appreciate or respect this song, then they have NO taste in music whatsoever. Why in god's name is Bohemian Rhapsody in 1st place?! It's a good song, but it cannot compete with Stairway To Heaven. Without this song, music wouldn't be the same. Now basically, I can't stop listening to it. I ran upstairs to listen to it on the other computer. And when they were about to sing again, she came out of the bathroom and said, "Hey! This isn't the right song! " And exits the page. 7 minutes in, she was still in the bathroom and it was at the guitar solo. But when it started playing she had to use the bathroom. And I asked her, "What song are you getting? " And being an electro fan, she replies, "This awesome song called Stairway to Heaven! " I sighed and let her get it. But I remember the first time I listened to this song, my sister wanted to play some music, I was about 10. It was really hard for me to choose between this song and Bohemian Rhapsody. I also think that "Bohemian Rhapsody" is also excellent, but Led Zeppelin is so much better than Queen, sadly Queen has more fans, but still Led Zeppelin are better musicians, you can't deny that! And also this is also a big reason why I think this is the greatest song of all time, is because I never listened to this song without getting major chills or goosebumps, I think that's the indicator of greatness of Led Zeppelin! This is the best song ever! None of the other song can compare to it, it's incredible! I think one of the MANY reasons why is so terrific is because it's constant climbing song, it's starts out soft, and then at the end Jimmy just takes over with the best guitar solo in the history. "Stairway To Heaven" is a legendary song composed and performed by the greatest rock musicians of all time, Led Zeppelin. His guitar solo in this song is one of his greatest played with undeniable passion and ease. Page's arrangement of a dramatic crescendo type development with the song passing through stages along the way lend to his (and John Paul Jones) influence by classical music. ![]() The poetic storytelling nature of Robert Plant's lyrics combined with Jimmy Page's brilliant musical composition places "Stairway To Heaven" as the number one rock song of all time. My personal opinion is that the song is about grieving and dealing with the hardships of life, with each of the five parts of the song representing one of the five stages of grief (Intro - Denial, Ballad - Depression, Operatic Section - Bargaining, Hard Rock Section - Anger, Outro - Acceptance). It gets people thinking and exchanging opinions and ideas and can even give people a different view of the song. Not only is the music arranged in an amazingly complex matter that only a genius can come up with, the lyrics offer thousands of different interpretations that are all correct. After many years of listening to the song and doing much research, I realize now that this song truly is the greatest song in the history of popular music. After parodying it for a school project, I realized there had to be something more it wasn't just "random rhyming nonsense" (to quote Freddie). Simply genius.Īfter first hearing it, I immediately liked the song, but I thought the song was intended to be a fun song. It's daring, fun and doesn't fall short of bravado. ![]() When the writer of this song, the late Freddie Mercury had come into the studio with "Bohemian Rhapsody", the rest of the band had thought of it foolish, bizarre and odd-but went along with the "Fred thing"-now it is a masterpiece that has withstood time, even more than thirty years old-nothing, and no one has come close to re-creating something so tongue-and-cheek, innovative, and still makes teenagers want to bang their heads and air-guitar while driving. Simply put, this is the song with every element required. It's one of the greatest songs ever made, totally captivating lyrically and extremely innovative musically all due credit to the Queen himself, Freddie Mercury. ![]()
